Position: Nurse Practitioner (Hematology/Oncology)

Hematology-Oncology Nurse Practitioner

The Hematology-Oncology NP is a licensed independent practitioner with advanced education and national certification who provides evidence-based care for a population of patients. Major duties and responsibilities of the position:

  • Independently manages a panel of patients with acute and chronic health conditions with an emphasis on health promotion and disease prevention using evidence-based practice.
  • Consultation and ongoing management can occur in an outpatient, inpatient, virtual, or electronic consult setting.
  • Works with other providers in their specialty to co-manage patients.
  • Completes or assists with appropriate medical procedures based on granted privileges and duties as determined by leadership of the Medicine Section.
  • Demonstrates leadership and works collaboratively with the interdisciplinary team.
  • Orders and interprets labs, tests, and diagnostic studies.
  • Prescribes pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic interventions.
  • Initiates referrals and consults to specialty services.
  • Provides education to patients and their families.
  • Assesses and adjusts the plan of care as needed to achieve optimal patient outcomes.
  • Supports all aspects of consult management.
  • Supports decisions, evaluation of referral, and integrated community care.
  • Uses tele-care modalities including voice, video, electronic consults, and others to provide care, when appropriate.
  • Completes appropriate documentation of care in a timely fashion meeting facility requirements.
  • Exemplifies the ICARE core values of-Integrity, Commitment, Advocacy, Respect, and Excellence.
  • Completes or assists with projects to improve Veteran care based on the needs of the facility.

Pay:
Competitive salary, regular salary increases, potential for performance awards
