Job Description Summary

MUSC is seeking a dedicated and skilled nurse for our high-volume Admit Transfer Center. This elite team of professionals is the hub for all admissions and transfers across our 16-hospital system in South Carolina and manages approximately 2000 beds, coordinating approximately 1500 transfers monthly and 1000 phone calls daily.

The RN will be a key contact, facilitating patient transfers to MUSC hospitals from MUSC as well as non-MUSC facilities. This position collaborates with our Patient Placement representatives and acts as a clinical resource and facilitator. The RN will utilize technology for multi-faceted communications and apply nursing knowledge derived from education and experience. This position will help direct transfers, admissions, bed requests from inpatient, outpatient, clinics, pre-admits, and requests for cardiovascular and medical/surgical services.

Minimum Training and

Education:

Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required;
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred. RN staff hired on or after July 1, 2013 with an Associate or Diploma degree in nursing are required to initiate education for BSN within 2 years and complete within four years of hire date. Employees are required to sign an agreement regarding the education requirement.

Minimum Experience:

5 years of work experience as a Registered Nurse. Leadership experience, including Charge Nurse, Nurse Supervisor, and/or Nurse Manager preferred. Experience with EPIC and patient flow/throughput in a call center environment preferred.

Required Licensure, Certifications, Registrations:

Licensure as a registered nurse by the South Carolina Board of Nursing or a compact state. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required, either a certification from an American Heart Association (AHA) BLS for Healthcare Providers (or AHA recognized equivalent) or an American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider. Some positions require certification in Advanced Cardiac Life Support.

Shift Information:
  • (3) 12-hour shifts per week
  • 7pm - 7am
  • Rotating Holidays, Weekends, and Storm Coverage required for all positions

(I) Ability to lift/lower objects 50 lbs. from/to floor from/to 36 inches unassisted.

(I) Ability to lift from 36" to overhead 25 lbs. (I) Ability to exert up to 50 lbs. of force. (F) Examples include:
