Position Summary
We are seeking a motivated, detail-oriented Lab Technician to join our team. In this role, you will support research and development activities focused on creating and improving products that meet evolving market needs. You will work hands-on with materials and laboratory instruments while collaborating closely with production teams and ensuring adherence to Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) standards.
Quality & Production Support
- Assist in correcting and reprocessing defective batches.
- Create and match color shades as required.
- Ensure accurate maintenance and calibration of laboratory measuring instruments.
- Complete general administrative and documentation tasks related to lab operations.
Compliance & Documentation
- Initiate and review technical data sheets.
- Initiate, track, and follow up on EHS-related actions to maintain compliance.
- Maintain adherence to all company policies, procedures, and safety protocols.
Additional Expectations
- Demonstrate flexibility and willingness to perform tasks outside the defined responsibilities when needed to support the company’s mission and goals.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or related field preferred.
- Minimum two years of experience in the paint or coatings industry preferred.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills for interaction with internal and external stakeholders.
- Experience with SAP software preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
- Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines under pressure while maintaining a positive, customer-focused attitude.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to safely perform essential job functions in compliance with ADA, FMLA, and applicable safety standards.
- Ability to maintain regular and punctual attendance in accordance with company and regulatory standards.
- Frequent walking, standing, bending, kneeling, reaching, and lifting.
- Exposure to fumes and hazardous chemicals—proper PPE will be required.
- Must be able to wear a respirator and successfully complete annual fit testing.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 20 pounds.
- Ability to stand for up to 8 hours per day.
- Must be able to clearly communicate verbally and over the phone.
