Job Description Summary
Department of Pediatrics, Darby Children’s Research Institute’s Laboratory of Dr. Haemmerich is seeking a Post‑Doctoral researcher to assist ongoing research efforts to develop targeted chemotherapy delivery for cancer treatment.
QualificationsA doctoral degree (PhD or MD/PhD) in a discipline related to biology, bioengineering, or biomedicine.
Job Duties- 25% Perform and/or assist in therapeutic rodent studies, including intravenous administration of liposomal chemotherapy, blood sampling, and animal imaging.
- 25% Assist and/or perform computer modeling studies of tumor drug delivery.
- 10% Produce and characterize liposomal drug carriers, formulating the liposomes and measuring release characteristics and size.
- 10% Prepare and maintain primary cancer cell cultures, including standard cell culture methods and, in some cases, cell viability analyses with in‑vitro efficacy studies.
- 10% Perform routine laboratory experiments, review and analyze data, and prepare protocols and reports.
- 10% Maintain, clear, complete, and up‑to‑date lab notebooks and documentation of all experiments, results, and reports, including organization of results in spreadsheets and other documents.
- 5% Process and analyze tissues such as rodent tumors, quantifying tumor drug uptake with established methods such as fluorometry and/or high‑performance liquid chromatography (HPLC).
- 5% Assist in animal surgeries, including surgical removal of tumors and implantation of vascular catheters.

Ability to lift and carry objects up to 15 lbs.

Ability to work alone in isolated areas, such as darkrooms (frequent). Ability to obtain and maintain a valid driver’s license. Computer literacy. Ability to work rotating shifts as required. Ability to work overtime as required. Ability to learn and use new processes, tools and equipment as required.
