GEL Laboratories, LLC, an affiliate of The GEL Group, Inc., is looking for a Laboratory Analyst in Training to join our team of professionals in our Metals Laboratory in Charleston, SC. The Laboratory Analyst in Training is responsible for conducting basic procedures that support other operations in the laboratory. You must be able to work independently, meeting productivity goals, with minimal supervision.
Analyst's in Training are trained on various methods used in the lab and will progress as their skill set grows. The successful candidate will be a good communicator, skilled in Microsoft Office 365 applications, and understand the basic functions of a chemistry or radiochemistry laboratory.
What You'll Do
- Conducting basic procedures that support other operations in the laboratory
- Performing login, sample management and disposal operations
- Completing data entry activities, including initial data reduction, and initial data review
- Preparing lab ware for procedures
- Performing standard operating procedures like aliquoting, and digestions
- Operating basic laboratory instrumentation and equipment
- Following written and verbal instructions
- Demonstrating and supporting GEL core values
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science, preferably in Chemistry or Biology
- Laboratory experience preferred
- Verbal and written communication skills
- Experience operating basic laboratory instrumentation and equipment
- Exhibits organizational skills and attention to detail

Working Environment & Physical Demands
This position requires working in a busy production laboratory successfully processing samples from around the world. Safety is a priority and negligence is not tolerated. Safety equipment is provided, and use is mandatory.

- Precise hand/eye coordination and finger/hand manipulation
- Potential exposure to chemicals, and to hazardous and/or radioactive materials
- Use of office and laboratory equipment and stamina to sit or stand for extended periods of time
- Ability to exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or move objects
