Seeking an individual, preferably with microsurgical experience, for a position in neuroimmunology that encompasses basic and translational research. Work will focus on the complement system and neuroinflammatory mechanisms. Projects involve investigating acute and chronic neuroimmune responses after stroke or traumatic brain injury, including long‑term neurodegenerative sequelae. The candidate will work with mouse models of stroke and TBI, specifically the murine middle cerebral artery occlusion model.

Other responsibilities include high‑resolution and confocal microscopy, cellular and molecular immune profiling, therapeutic drug evaluation, and detailed assessments of motor and cognitive functions. The laboratory also develops novel transgenic animals and is involved in commercialization of therapeutic approaches.

• Participate in surgical procedures related to the described projects.
• Prepare brain sections from mice and process them for histology and immune microscopy.
• Perform various microscopy techniques including high‑resolution and confocal imaging.
• Evaluate mice via behavioral tasks to assess motor and cognitive functions.
• Conduct high‑dimensional analyses of the post‑injury immune landscape and interpret data.
• Use image‑analysis software to generate and analyze images.
• Determine behavioral outcomes in relation to pathophysiological findings.
• Collaborate with other lab personnel on related projects.
• Participate in lab meetings and project‑specific meetings with other lab personnel.
• Maintain laboratory notebooks, archives, and records.
• Assist with writing manuscripts and grant proposals.
• Stay current with relevant literature.

A PhD in biology or a related natural, life or health‑care science is required. Candidates with prior experience in the murine middle cerebral artery occlusion model may be considered with a Bachelor’s degree.

Ability to perform job functions in an upright position. Ability to perform job functions while seated. Ability to walk or move. Ability to climb stairs. Ability to work indoors and in cold temperature extremes. Ability to bend, twist at the waist, and perform repetitive hand movements. Ability to lift and carry up to 15 lbs. Ability to maintain vision and hearing acuity.

Ability to work rotating shifts, overtime, and new processes as required.
