About the roleGEL Laboratories, LLC, an affiliate of The GEL Group, Inc., is looking for a Laboratory Support Technician to join our team of professionals in our Charleston, SC office to support various laboratory functions. As a Laboratory Support Technician you are responsible for conducting a variety of preparatory activities to support various analytical testing in the radiochemistry laboratory.
What you'll do- Conducts all activities in a safe and efficient manner
- Prepares lab ware for procedures
- Prepares containers for sampling with proper preservation and shipping protocols
- Performs sample management and disposal operations
- Performs standard operating procedures (e.g. aliquoting and digestions)
- Operates basic laboratory instrumentation and equipment
- Use the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) to prioritize laboratory production workflow
- Follows written and verbal instructions
- Assist with supplies, balance, and pipette checks
- Demonstrate and support GEL core values
- High School Diploma or equivalent is required. Associates degree in a scientific discipline (Chemistry, Biology) is preferred
- Prior laboratory experience preferred but not required
- Basic math and computer skills required, along with the ability to learn M365, LIMS, etc.
- Good verbal and written communication skills

This position requires working in a busy production laboratory, safely processing samples from around the world. Safety is a priority, and negligence is not tolerated. Safety equipment is provided, and use is mandatory.
The physical demands outlined in this job posting are representative of those that are required for an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job:
- Precise hand/eye coordination and finger/hand manipulation.
- Potential exposure to chemicals and to hazardous and/or radioactive materials.
- Use of office and laboratory equipment and stamina to sit or stand for extended periods of time.
- Ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or move objects.
