Public Safety Operations Coordinator

Public Safety Operations Coordinator functions as a front‑line professional and is a member of the team responsible for the forward‑facing operations of the division of Public Safety, carrying out the mission of enhancing the campus experience. The position serves as the primary point of contact for students, faculty, staff, parents, alumni, visitors, and vendors, performing a diverse range of administrative duties with a high level of independence and accountability.

Responsibilities include managing the front desk, completing document submissions, observing video feeds, communicating with officers and dispatch, performing safety and security duties, handling telephone and in-person inquiries, and ensuring a positive, personalized experience for all customers.

Salary is commensurate with education/experience exceeding the minimum requirements.

Responsibilities
  • Manage the front desk and complete submissions of documents.
  • Observe video feeds and communicate with officers and dispatch.
  • Provide safety and security duties as assigned to assist public safety officers.
  • Handle telephone and in‑person inquiries and maintain a courteous, calm demeanor during emergencies.
  • Monitor social media for potential safety issues.
  • Maintain detailed records related to lost property and irregular activities.
  • Assist in the operation of the (Transact)  System and the (AIM) Facilities Management System.
  • Provide operational support across Public Safety projects and initiatives.
Qualifications
  • High School diploma required; preferred experience in customer service and administration.
  • Equivalent combination of experience and/or education encouraged.
  • Experience with online software applications, social media, and Microsoft Office preferred.
  • Exceptional customer service skills and ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Organized, personable, detail oriented, and able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to make decisions, resolve problems, remain calm during emergencies, and adapt quickly to new technology.
  • Must pass a Background Investigation.
Schedule &

Physical Requirements
  • Fixed day, evening, or night schedule including weekends and holidays.
  • Must be able to navigate an urban campus and historic buildings that do not have elevators and lift 25 pounds.
  • Ability to sit and stand in one location for long periods, including frequent position changes.
Training & Certifications
  • Incident Command System Training (provided).
  • Stop the Bleed Training (provided).
  • First Aid (provided).
  • Designation as a South Carolina State Security Officer with ability to work off‑duty jobs and events.
