Night Shift Security & Fire Prevention Specialist

McGill Environmental Systems seeks a Part-Time Night Shift Security & Fire Prevention Specialist to protect its industrial composting facility. In this on-site role, you will perform regular night patrols, monitor access points, and enforce company safety and security procedures. You will conduct fire watch rounds, check for heat, smoke, or ignition risks, and verify proper storage of flammable materials. The role includes documenting incidents, responding to alarms, coordinating with supervisors or emergency services, and supporting a safety-first, environmentally focused operation.

Responsibilities

• Conduct regular night patrols of composting facility grounds, buildings, and equipment
• Monitor and control facility access for employees, visitors, and contractors
• Perform fire watch inspections, checking for heat, smoke, and ignition hazards
• Verify proper storage and handling of flammable and combustible materials
• Respond to alarms, incidents, and safety concerns and escalate as needed
• Document security and fire watch activities, incidents, and observations
• Communicate with supervisors and emergency services when required
• Support enforcement of OSHA, facility, and environmental safety procedures
• Use radios, lighting, and basic security systems to maintain site security
• Collaborate with operations staff to maintain a safe, compliant environment
