Job Summary:

Under minimal supervision, performs diagnostic and service work on residential and/or light commercial HVAC equipment and accessories. Communicates with customers to answer questions, resolves problems, and ensures complete customer satisfaction. Promotes products and services to customers. Works under the direction of the Field Supervisor or General Manager.

Key Responsibilities
  • Works under minimal supervision to perform residential and/or light commercial service and maintenance calls
  • Analyzes, diagnoses, and resolves customer problems in a courteous, professional, timely, and accurate manner
  • Present comfort options of residential HVAC and water heater products and services to new and established customers
  • Strengthen the customer experience through a consultative sales approach focused on customer retention and satisfaction
  • Diagnoses and performs services on heating, air conditioning, ventilation, and refrigeration equipment as well as accessories in an accurate and timely manner
  • Inspects equipment and performs diagnostics to identify potential problems to prevent premature and unexpected breakdowns or callbacks
  • Completes routine maintenance and equipment cleaning as needed or required
  • Responsible for delivery and removal of parts and equipment needed to complete service work
  • Records required information on a handheld device and completes all forms and paperwork neatly, timely, and accurately; collects payment
  • Communicates with dispatch to provide an accurate status report of activities and availability
  • Delivers excellent customer service and sustains high levels of customer satisfaction
  • Promotes products and services to the customer and provides replacement product sales leads to the Sales and Service Coordinator
  • Ensures company property, vehicles, and tools are used, maintained, and accounted for
  • Represents the company professionally, honestly, and ethically in all business matters
  • Follows standard procedures and ensures the company vehicle is stocked; returns defective warranty parts and replenishes vehicle stock as needed
  • Performs similar or other duties as needed or assigned

  • Reports unsafe acts, conditions, and hazards to the direct supervisor/manager immediately
  • Reports any contravention of legislation or company policy to direct supervisor/manager immediately
  • Corrects substandard acts or conditions within area of control
  • Uses and maintains appropriate PPE as prescribed by company programs
  • Never removes or renders ineffective any safety guards, devices, or clothing prescribed
  • Complies with general company rules and operates devices/equipment as prescribed
  • Participates in safety initiatives, teams, or committees
  • Reports all injuries or incidents as prescribed by company programs immediately
  • Provides input on safety initiatives and plans to eliminate exposures
  • Does not perform acts that endanger others; maintains safe conduct
  • Works in compliance with applicable legislative requirements
Required Qualifications
  • Solid understanding of HVAC systems; prior experience as an Installer, Maintenance, or Service Technician; ability to work independently and solve problems
  • Technical training certification
  • Proven HVAC sales experience, with preference for direct consumer selling
  • Ability to effectively communicate concepts to a variety of audiences
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to address customer concerns and translate into business solutions
  • Commitment to delivering high-quality, customer-focused service
  • Must possess all valid licensing or certification as required by local laws
  • EPA and safety certifications required
  • Skilled at servicing heating, air conditioning, ventilation, and related accessories
  • Proficient mechanical aptitude and ability to operate tools and equipment
  • Proficient at reading wiring diagrams and troubleshooting electrical, refrigerant, and duct systems
