The Facilities Maintenance Technician plays a critical role in ensuring the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of building systems and infrastructure across our facilities in the United States. This position is responsible for performing routine inspections, preventive maintenance, and timely repairs to mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems to minimize downtime and extend equipment life. The technician will collaborate closely with the Senior Director of Operations and other facilities team members to identify maintenance needs and implement solutions that comply with safety regulations and company standards.
By proactively addressing maintenance issues, the technician helps create a safe and comfortable environment for all building occupants. Ultimately, this role supports the organization's operational continuity and contributes to cost‑effective facility management through skilled technical expertise and problem‑solving abilities.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Proven experience as a maintenance technician or in a similar role within facilities management.
- Basic knowledge of electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and mechanical systems.
- Ability to climb ladders and work from an elevated position.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
- Technical certification or associate degree in facilities maintenance, electrical, HVAC, or related field.
- Experience with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
- Familiarity with OSHA safety standards and compliance.
- Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
- Conduct regular inspections and preventive maintenance on HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems to ensure optimal performance.
- Diagnose and repair equipment malfunctions promptly to minimize operational disruptions.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and parts inventory.
- Respond to emergency maintenance requests in a timely and efficient manner.
- Collaborate with facility management and external contractors to coordinate maintenance projects and upgrades.
- Ensure compliance with all safety protocols, building codes, and environmental regulations during maintenance tasks.
- Assist in the installation and commissioning of new equipment and systems as required.
The Facilities Maintenance Technician utilizes a broad range of technical skills daily to inspect, maintain, and repair complex building systems, ensuring operational efficiency and safety. Proficiency in electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and mechanical systems allows the technician to quickly diagnose issues and implement effective solutions. Communication skills are essential for coordinating with team members and external vendors to schedule maintenance and report on system status.
Familiarity with computerized maintenance management systems enhances the technician’s ability to track work orders, manage inventory, and document maintenance activities accurately. Additionally, adherence to safety protocols and regulatory standards is critical to performing tasks responsibly and maintaining a secure work environment.
