Generator Technician

Bemana is seeking a Generator Technician to join our team in the Charleston, SC market. You will be responsible for the maintenance and repair of generator sets and critical electrical equipment. This is a field-based, remote position ideal for a self-sufficient technician who excels at troubleshooting and performing high-level repairs on complex power systems.

Position Offers

What You'll Do

• Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on generators and parallel systems (5-5000kw), including oil/filter service and AC/DC circuit troubleshooting.
• Diagnose and repair Automatic Transfer Switches (ATS), including bypass isolation and closed transition types.
• Troubleshoot diesel and gaseous engines, focusing on ignition components, injection systems, and valve adjustments.
• Conduct load bank testing to ensure code compliance and perform start-up/commissioning for new generator installations.
• Travel within the service radius, managing parts inventory and vehicle maintenance while providing excellent customer service.
• Provide accurate verbal and written reports of job status, recommendations, and time tracking via computer/tablet.

Requirements

• HS Diploma required;
  Associate degree in an electrical/mechanical field preferred.
• Military experience or prior experience as a Generator or UPS Field Service Technician preferred.
• EPA Universal and/or Generac Power Systems certifications preferred.
• Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills with the ability to read schematics and technical manuals.
• Must be able to lift 75lbs, climb ladders, and work in various weather conditions or confined spaces.
• Valid drivers license required.
