SUMMARY

The Certified HVAC Technician is responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems in residential, commercial, and industrial settings. This role involves diagnosing HVAC system issues, performing repairs, and ensuring systems operate efficiently and in compliance with local codes and regulations. The technician must have a strong understanding of HVAC systems, components, and technology, as well as the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Perform routine preventive maintenance inspections on HVAC systems, to identify deficiencies and ensure optimal performance.
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair malfunctions and failures across a variety of building systems and equipment, implementing effective and timely corrective actions to minimize disruption to facility operations.
  • Respond promptly to facility-related maintenance requests and work orders, prioritizing tasks based on urgency and operational impact.
  • Assist in the installation, replacement, and upgrade of building systems components and equipment as directed.
  • Monitor and maintain HVAC systems, including performing filter changes, coil cleaning, belt inspections, and other routine maintenance tasks to ensure systems operate at peak efficiency.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all maintenance activities, inspections, repairs, and parts usage in accordance with facility documentation requirements.
  • Coordinate with the Project Manager and building managers to schedule and execute maintenance work with minimal disruption to building occupants and operations.
  • Ensure all work is performed in compliance with applicable federal, state, and local safety regulations, building codes, and environmental standards.
  • Support facility inspections and audits by preparing systems and equipment for review and addressing identified deficiencies.
EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION, AND LICENSURE
  • High School Diploma or equivalent from an accredited institution.
  • Journeyman HVAC License.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in building maintenance, facilities operations, or a related field.
  • EPA 608 Certification required.
  • Must possess current training certifications and annual continuing education certificates in maintenance-related fields.
  • Working knowledge of building systems including mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems, with the ability to perform maintenance and repairs across multiple disciplines.
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and diagnose system malfunctions and equipment failures and implement effective corrective actions.
  • Familiarity with applicable federal, state, and local building codes, safety regulations, and environmental compliance requirements.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify potential issues during routine inspections before they escalated into larger problems.
  • Solid organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage and prioritize multiple work orders and tasks simultaneously.
  • Commitment to maintaining a safe work environment, including strict adherence to OSHA standards and proper PPE usage.
  • Ability to maintain accurate maintenance logs, service records, and work order documentation.
