Field Service Technician
As a Field Service Technician, you are responsible for the installation, maintenance, repair, and removal of brewing and serving equipment at customer locations. This role requires a hands-on approach to problem solving, strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills, and the ability to provide prompt and courteous service. Field Service Technicians play a key role in supporting the sales function by ensuring equipment performs reliably and meets customer expectations.
Key Responsibilities
- Prioritize and schedule service calls, equipment installations, removals, and preventive maintenance with guidance from the Warehouse Manager or Field Service Supervisor.
- Drive a company vehicle to customer locations to perform on-site service tasks in a timely and professional manner.
- Install and remove brewing and serving equipment, utilizing plumbing and basic electrical skills as needed.
- Diagnose issues by observing equipment performance and using appropriate troubleshooting techniques.
- Repair or replace defective parts, make mechanical adjustments, and test equipment functionality after service.
- Perform preventive maintenance to ensure equipment longevity and minimize customer disruption.
- Manage parts inventory, including initiating purchase orders for machines and replacement parts as required.
- Properly open and close work orders using a handheld device, record parts usage, and ensure accurate documentation of installations, removals, and repairs.
- Maintain vehicle cleanliness and perform regular inspections and scheduled maintenance.
- Safely handle, label, and store defective or warranty-eligible parts in compliance with company procedures.
- Collaborate with sales representatives and customers to confirm equipment placement and service needs.
- Support bench repair work or in-shop equipment servicing when needed.
- Report any property damage caused by company equipment and assist in documenting incidents in the absence of a supervisor.
- May be asked to perform additional duties, as necessary.
Position Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Passing score on aptitude test may be required if diploma is unavailable.
- 3 years of experience in HVAC, electrical, appliance repair, or similar mechanical field.
- Familiarity with mechanical and electrical troubleshooting required.
- Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record; CDL may be required depending on location.
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- Proficiency with handheld computer devices preferred.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook); experience with SAP S/4
HANA is a plus. - Must successfully complete a pre-employment physical.

Experience with Community Coffee, even if unrelated, may fulfill this requirement at the discretion of the hiring manager with approval from Human Resources.

Physical Demands/Work Environment
- Use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls and reach with hands and arms
- Is frequently required to stand.
- Is regularly required to walk; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; and talk or hear.
- Must frequently lift and/or move up to 35 pounds. May occasionally lift and/or move up to 85 pounds (with assistance of lift or by two persons) and may occasionally lift and/or move up to 200 pounds (with assistance of lift and by two persons).
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
- Field Sales Environment:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts; in high, precarious places; and in outside weather conditions and is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles;
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, but may be moderately loud in warehouse areas.
