Overview
School Bus Monitor / Special Needs
Caring, compassionate individuals needed to assist school bus drivers during the transportation of special needs students to-and-from school daily and on field trip activities.

- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Has a clean criminal history (background checks will be required)
- Is compassionate and willing to learn and support our children
- Can satisfactorily complete and pass all training and attend safety/in-service meetings in order to maintain qualifications
- Possesses a high degree of attention to detail and considerable dexterity to safely use various types of restraints, secure wheelchairs, etc
- Can relate to and work well with children, and maintain effective pupil behavior management
- Has high-level professional and diplomacy skills to work with students, fellow employees, parents, and school district personnel
- Exhibits strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Can lift and assist students when necessary
- Hours:
Part-Time, Hourly, Mon-Fri - Demonstrate compassion
- Assist in the safe transportation, loading and unloading of students with disabilities during bus routes
- Be on time and complete all assigned bus runs
- Complete training on bus lift operation, the securing of student wheelchairs in the bus and the securing of students into their seats with 5 point harnesses and/or other apparatuses that may be required
- Complete training on student support and supervision during transit
- Operate the bus lift to assist students on and off the bus
- Collaborate with the bus driver during the bus route to ensure a safe and efficient bus run
- Monitor student safety and needs during transit
- Communicate relevant and important information about any occurrence on the bus trip to families and school staff
- Follow all company and district policies
- Be flexible to the pace and needs of the children and the program
- Ensure compliance to all safety requirements
- Maintain cleanliness of the bus, report issues, and keep inventory of cleaning supplies
- Display the highest ethical and professional behavior in working with fellow employees, supervisors, students, parents, and school personnel, always promoting company goodwill
