Job Description Summary
Transportation is hiring two of drivers - COTS and ODT.
Transportation Services (COTS)- 35% - Picks-ups doctor’s and staff at designated meeting point and transports them to a MUSC affiliated medical facility. Drivers will wait until doctors and staff complete their duties in order to return them to a MUSC affiliated drop-off location.
- 15% - Perform driver pre/post vehicle inspections (i.e., inspects tires, adds fluids, reports damages). Fuel and clean vehicles assigned for each COTS request (i.e., mopping, sweeping, vacuuming, and washing).
- 15% - Responsible for understating details of their assigned COTs requests (i.e., pick-up times, location, passengers, etc.)
- 15% - Responsible for reasonably accommodating doctors and staff (i.e., providing portable Wi-Fi hotspots, parking in a shady area, etc.)
- 15% - Maintain accurate administrative and operational records, including vehicle inspection logs, mileage reports, accident/incident documentation, and COTS folders.
- 5% - Performs other duties as assigned including but not limited to substituting for other drivers, quick rides, patients transport, and campus shuttle.
- 30% - Transports clinical staff, patients, students, and/or employees to various locations within the assigned area of operations. Boards and discharges passengers with concern and consideration in a safe and efficient manner. Monitor vehicle performance on the road and immediately isolate and remedy issues that are within the normal scope of a vehicle operator’s responsibility.
- (Essential) - 30% - Responsible for fueling and cleaning of vehicle; mopping, sweeping, vacuuming and washing. Performs operator’s pre/post vehicle inspections and adds fluids as needed. Performed in all weather conditions consistent with safety.
- (Essential) - 20% - Responsible for transporting patients that require special assistance. Must transport patients in wheel chairs using the Q-Straint system. Responsible for following all procedures regarding the safe and timely transport of patients.
- (Essential) - 15% - Substitutes for other drivers, quick rides, out of town travels (day trip). Communicates with UTS and Life Guard dispatchers to ensure daily assignments.
- (Essential) - 5% - Performs other duties as assigned.

One year of experience in the operation or maintenance of heavy equipment, motorized vehicles or machinery that is directly related to the area of employment. Some positions require a valid driver's license and/or commercial driver's license.
Additional Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities PreferredMust be able to safely operate all types of motor vehicles including cars, trucks, vans, and small buses. Must be able to communicate effectively and work efficiently under stress. Must have current, valid SC Driver's License and a certified copy of ten-year driving record from DMV
