George Thomas has partnered with a growing packaging manufacturer based in the Spartanburg County, SC region.
Our client is seeking to hire a Warehouse Supervisor to manage the shipping, receiving and material handling functions.
Position Overview: Warehouse Supervisor
Location: Spartanburg County, SC (full time, onsite position)
Reports into: Warehouse Manager
This role oversees all elements related to storage, distribution, transportation, import/export compliance, and the relevant IT applications. The supervisor will lead and develop a high-performing team that effectively supports manufacturing and meets customer requirements.
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Support the warehouse team in all aspects of development, including employee engagement and performance management.
- Foster and support a collaborative team environment.
- Identify priorities and provide clear direction to achieve team goals.
- Ensure adherence to company policies, legal requirements, and business standards.
- Maintain a safe and organized warehouse.
- Manage labor costs to align with business needs.
- Ensure accurate inventory control and reconciliation to meet customer and internal compliance standards.
- Develop, implement, and continuously improve the warehouse network and delivery strategy. This includes all activities related to receiving, storing, internal material handling, and shipping to support a 24-hour operation.
- Act as a Subject Matter Expert, advising leadership on logistics market trends and their impact on internal and external stakeholders.
- Develop expertise in optimizing internal racking equipment.
- Partner with Procurement to source and negotiate with contract vendors for storage, transportation, and leased equipment.
- Use tools to measure vendor effectiveness, driving cost reduction and service enhancement.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma required.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in manufacturing, including roles in Warehouse, Operations, Supply Chain, or Logistics.
- At least 3 years of supervisory experience.
- Strong communication skills, self-motivated, and a team player.
