The West Virginia Department of Tourism seeks an Audit Clerk to assist the Finance team. This individual would serve as the agency’s primary auditor and assist with other accounting functions as necessary. The position reports directly to the Chief Financial Officer.
Sample Duties- Review of all contracts and encumbrance documents associated in accordance with the West Virginia Department of Tourism’s purchasing rules and regulations as well as any federal regulations set forth by the agreements.
- Review of all agency payment requests in accordance with the policies and procedures. set forth by the West Virginia Department of Tourism, purchasing rules and the West Virginia State Auditor’s Office, Legislative Rule Title 155.
- Review all supporting documentation to ensure it meets contractual agreements, grant awards, purchase orders and/or other binding agreements requirements.
- Other accounting and administrative duties, as assigned.
Skills and Abilities
Required
- Knowledge of generally accepted accounting procedures.
- Must be able to communicate verbally and in writing to provide instructions.
- Ability to take ownership over projects and meet deadlines.
- Ability to work collaboratively with different teams and independently.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities.
- Ability to travel occasionally for conferences and seminars.
- Ability to multitask and stay organized.
- Experience and/or interest in learning new data tools and software.
- Proficiency in Adobe Acrobat and the Google suite of products.
- Proficiency in/or interest in learning wvOASIS.
AUDIT CLERK-WV DEPARTMENT OF TOURISM-KANAWHA CO.
SALARY RANGE: $40,000.00 - $55,000.00

The successful candidate will have experience in accounting/auditing and be willing to work in a fast-paced environment. West Virginia State accounting/auditing experience is preferred. Preference will be given to candidates with an associate’s degree or further education.
This job opportunity is not a Civil Service position and is not covered under the Administrative Rule of the WV Division of Personnel. The position is located at the Capitol Complex in Charleston, WV and works full-time, regular business hours, Monday through Friday. It has competitive pay and benefits. Remote work is not permitted. Limited travel required.
