RoleDescription:

This is a full-time, on-site accountant role based in Charleston, WV. The accountant will prepare and review financial statements, maintain general ledgers, and reconcile accounts on a regular basis. Responsibilities include building and maintaining strong client relationships and collaborating with team members to uphold high standards of accuracy and compliance.
The role also involves assisting with tax preparation and filings and ensuring compliance with relevant accounting standards and regulations. The accountant will communicate with clients and internal stakeholders to clarify financial data, address inquiries, and support decision-making with accurate, timely information.
- Strong knowledge of general accounting principles, including financial reporting, account reconciliation, and ledger management.
- Proficiency with accounting software and tools (e.g., Quick Books, Excel, or similar platforms) and comfort working with spreadsheets and financial databases.
- Experience supporting month-end and year-end close processes, preparing work papers, and organizing documentation for audits or reviews.
- Understanding of basic tax concepts and compliance requirements; prior experience assisting with business, trust, and individual tax returns is a plus.
- Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to identify and resolve discrepancies in financial data.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain financial information clearly to clients and colleagues.
- Ability to work on-site, collaborate within a small team, and manage multiple priorities while meeting deadlines.
- A bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field; CPA certification or progress toward licensure is preferred but not required.
- Prior experience in public accounting or a similar professional services environment is beneficial.
