COMMUNITY ARTS COORDINATOR-WV DEPARTMENT OF TOURISM-KANAWHA CO.
SALARY RANGE: $40,000-$48,000
POSITION DETAILS
The West Virginia Department of Tourism’s State Arts Office is accepting applications for the Community Arts Coordinator position. Under the direct supervision of the Director of Arts, the successful candidate will primarily serve as a grants coordinator overseeing the Community Arts Project Support grant, the Community Arts Mini Grant, and the Public Art grant. The successful candidate will also act as a coordinator for special arts initiatives and perform other related duties as assigned within the Arts Office.
The position requests full-time work during business hours, Monday through Friday. Some holidays, weekends and after-hours special events are required.
This job opportunity is not a Civil Service position and is not covered under the Administrative Rule of the WV Division of Personnel. The state of West Virginia offers competitive pay and benefits. The job is located on the Capitol Complex in Charleston, WV. Remote work is not permitted. Some day and overnight travel is required. The position will be required to assist with various department events and perform additional duties as assigned.
SAMPLE DUTIES- Planning and conducting panel reviews.
- Development of program guidelines, policy, and literature.
- Conduct ongoing program evaluations.
- Audit final reports.
- Prepare and present reports to the West Virginia Commission on the Arts.
- Work with the National Endowment for the Arts and various regional contacts to provide technical assistance for artists.
- Conduct and implement regional meetings, including grant writing workshops and listening tours.
- Create social media and blog posts for the Arts Office.
- Attend various meetings, seminars, and conferences.
- Must have excellent communication and writing skills.
- Ability to prepare and present written and oral reports and presentations.
- Maintain and cultivate professional interactions with inter- and intra-agency partners and employees, the general public, artists and others to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
- Ability to evaluate existing programs and make recommendations to implement, improve and revise programs as needed.
- Excellent organizational and analytical skills, and the ability to time manage and prioritize in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment.
- Proficient in auditing reports, grant budgets, and proofreading.
- Knowledge of Google Workspace and interest in learning new systems.
Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university
ExperienceThree years of full-time or equivalent part-time paid experience working in the industry on a professional level or performing similar work
