Position Summary

The Assistant Principal of Madison Middle School assists the Principal in providing instructional leadership and administrative support for the school. The Assistant Principal works collaboratively with staff, students, parents, and community stakeholders to promote student achievement, maintain a positive school climate, support school operations, and ensure compliance with all applicable state and county policies and procedures.

Qualifications
  • Valid West Virginia Professional Administrative Certificate.
  • A West Virginia Principal Certificate.
  • Administrative experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities and effective organizational skills.
  • Experience with student discipline procedures and positive behavior support systems.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with students, staff, parents, and community stakeholders.
  • Ability to analyze data and assist with school improvement initiatives.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Assist the Principal in the administration and supervision of all school programs and operations.
  • Support instructional leadership efforts to improve student achievement and school performance.
  • Assist with the supervision and evaluation of instructional and support personnel as assigned.
  • Use student achievement data to support curriculum, instruction, intervention, and school improvement efforts.
  • Assist in developing and implementing the school master schedule.
  • Coordinate and supervise student attendance, discipline, and behavior support programs.
  • Maintain a safe, orderly, and positive learning environment.
  • Enforce student discipline in accordance with state law, county policy, and due process requirements.
  • Assist in coordinating special education services, student support programs, and intervention initiatives.
  • Support faculty meetings, professional learning communities, and school improvement teams.
  • Assist with school safety planning, emergency preparedness, and crisis response procedures.
  • Monitor co‑curricular and extracurricular activities and programs.
  • Assist with student supervision during school events and activities.
  • Support communication and engagement efforts with parents, families, and community stakeholders.
  • Assist with maintaining school records, reports, inventories, and other administrative responsibilities.
  • Participate in staff recruitment, orientation, mentoring, and retention efforts.
  • Attend required meetings, professional development activities, and trainings.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal, Superintendent, or designee.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Knowledge of effective instructional practices and school improvement strategies.
  • Effective leadership, organizational, and personnel management skills.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and problem‑solving abilities.
  • Ability to foster positive relationships with students, staff, families, and community members.
  • Knowledge of West Virginia Board of Education policies and applicable state and federal regulations.
  • Ability to support a positive school culture focused on student success and continuous improvement.
Terms of Employment
  • 210‑Day Contract.
  • Salary based on certification, experience, and applicable county supplement in accordance with the Boone County Schools salary schedule.
  • Evaluation conducted in accordance with West Virginia Board of Education policy and county procedures.
