- Instructional Management:
Implement West Virginia College- and Career-Readiness Standards as presented in WV Board of Education Policy 2520.1A. Utilize modern data-driven models to optimize student learning progress. - Student Evaluation:
Regularly monitor and assess student mastery of objectives using both formative and summative tools. - Classroom Environment:
Foster an inclusive, safe, and positive student-centered learning environment. - Communication:
Maintain clear, consistent, and professional contact with parents, community stakeholders, and school administration. - Professional Standards:
Participate in county-level professional development and fulfill any additional co-curricular duties assigned by the principal.
- Education:
Minimum of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution. - Certification:
Must hold or be eligible for a valid West Virginia Teaching Certificate with an endorsement in Language Arts (0800), English (1000), or English/Language Arts (1001) for grades 5‑Adult or 9‑12. - Testing Requirements:
Successful completion of all state-required ETS Praxis exams for secondary English Language Arts.
Applicants who do not currently hold a professional certificate may be considered if they meet the criteria for a First-Class Permit, Teacher-in-Residence program, or a state-approved Alternative Certification program requiring a relevant bachelor's degree with a minimum 2.5 GPA.
Terms of Employment200 days, 2026‑2027 school year.
CompensationSalary based on experience and education level per Clay County Board of Education Salary Schedule, plus competitive benefits package equal to approximately 35% of direct compensation.
