About This ProgramA 10- to 11-week paid summer research assistantship at the Green Bank Observatory in West Virginia, home of the world's largest fully steerable radio telescope. Projects span astronomy, engineering and data science, including star formation and galactic dynamics, pulsar studies, radio frequency interference mitigation, telescope engineering and operations, electronics, software development and spectrum monitoring. Students apply through the GBO/NRAO summer student portal and select Green Bank as a preferred site;
the program is supported by the NSF Research Experiences for Undergraduates program, West Virginia NASA Space Grant, PING and Spectrum
X. Participants share housing near the observatory and attend a week-long bootcamp involving all three NRAO sites.
