Engineer

The Perfect Power Engineer is responsible for performing intermediate level engineering work activities and projects requiring the application of engineering knowledge in a safe, effective, efficient and economic accomplishment of assigned objectives.

Essential Job Functions & Tasks:

• Perform circuit loading and flow analysis utilizing CYME software
• Design circuit protection schemes using CYME TCC software
• Review daily, weekly and monthly reliability reports to identify opportunities for improvement
• Identify and develop reliability improvement plans for the assigned area
• Assist the Operations group with system issues whenever needed – 24/7 support
• Assist with Outage Restorations either in the office or in the field – travel may be required
• Provide guidance on large customer load additions and service plans
• Develop and score improvement projects for the annual work plan using the PVR tool
• Respond to customer and quality of service inquiries – possible field work
• Design and coordinate the installation of Distribution Automation schemes (DACR)
• Provide engineering expertise to the Distribution Design group
• Support the Distribution Dispatch Center with load transfers and switching orders
• Provide / Install settings for electronic equipment including reclosers, regulators and capacitors
• Collaborate / communicate with various departments and groups across the company
• Provide Project Management support during phases of project development and construction
• Provide centralized leadership and coordination across all districts by defining Perfect Power team roles
• Standardize Perfect Power work practices and maintain Standard of Work Documents
• Deliver executive-level visibility to Perfect Power metrics and performance including customer minutes of interruption (CMI).
• Heavy focus on data analytics and continuous improvement driving enhancements to Grid Scope and other reporting tools for Community of Practice Groups.
• Utilize programming tools such as Python to analyze large data sets and identify actionable insights

Provides guidance and exercises judgment and discretion in providing training, guidance and/or direction to other Engineers. Leads, facilitates, and coordinates work activities of others within the work group, team, department, corporate entity, or those external to the company as required to perform all routine engineering work. Ensures all work activities are performed in accordance with the policies, practices, standards, and rules of the company and comply with the regulations and procedures required by external agencies.

Promotes engineering professionalism and standards. Coordinates and conducts training sessions.

Identifies, clarifies, resolves, and initiates solutions to routine and/or complex problems that sometimes involve analysis of inadequate or conflicting data. Demonstrates the ability to divide problems into component steps. Consistently looks for and develops opportunities and presents new ideas and approaches.

Coordinates the work of other engineers in an efficient and effective manner. Develop reviews or prepare reports on complex technical subjects clearly, concisely, and effectively, in a manner suitable for presentation to management, professional societies, regulatory bodies, etc. Leads and facilitates meetings effectively.
