Assistant Division Director And Chief Engineer For Environmental Engineering Division
This position serves as the Assistant Division Director and Chief Engineer for the Environmental Engineering Division (EED). This position provides oversight to the Division's engineering staff state-wide, engineering permit review process, and infrastructure and capacity development projects. The primary function of the EED is to ensure the implementation of the Environmental Protection Act's (EPA) Safe Drinking Water Act (SDWA). This position will conduct a wide variety of engineering or creative works for the EED especially in various types of emergency situations involving drinking water.
This position will provide technical/engineering assistance to engineering staff in the division and to public water systems related to treatment and distribution of public drinking water, along with conducting engineering reviews for the Infrastructure and Jobs Development Council (IJDC) and Drinking Water Treatment Revolving Fund (DWTRF) funded projects, conducting engineering review on construction permit applications, participating in various types of emergency response activities including on-site and collecting of critical data during emergencies (floods, blizzards, spills, droughts, etc.)
relating to public health protection and engineering services, providing routine and emergency technical assistance to public water system (PWS) operators, assisting in teaching PWS operator training courses to comply with State and Federal requirements, and advising and consulting with public officials, consulting engineers, utility operators, property developers and the general public regarding the best available public health engineering practices pursuant to 16-1-9 of the West Virginia State Code.
This position may include some field work and is required to be on call 24/7/365 for emergency response and disaster relief.
Minimum Qualifications
Training:
Current Professional Engineer (PE) license issued by the West Virginia State Board of Registration for Professional Engineers.
AND
Experience:
Nine (9) years of full-time or equivalent part-time paid experience as a licensed Professional Engineer in a responsible capacity in charge of engineering projects. The experience must have been acquired after the bachelor's degree but may have occurred before or after registration as a professional engineer.

Current Professional Engineer (PE) license issued by the West Virginia State Board of Registration for Professional Engineers. AND
Experience:
Seven (7) years of full-time or equivalent part-time paid experience in the Engineer Series.
