About the OpportunityThe West Virginia Division of Finance, FARS Unit, is seeking detail-oriented, motivated accounting professionals to join our financial reporting team. - Review and edit agency accounting books for GAAP compliance.
- Assist agencies in preparing financial statements and disclosures.
- Provide training and support on GAAP and wvOASIS policies.
- Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree (with up to 24 hours in accounting) plus 1 year of GAAP‑based financial reporting or auditing experience. Graduate coursework may substitute. Preference for CPA, CGFM, MPA, or MBA. - Salary Range: $41,194 – $71,789 annually.
- Approve GAAP adjustments, footnotes, and financial reports.
- Assist with RFPs for outside auditors and oversee contracted CPA audit work.
- Train agencies in GAAP and wvOASIS usage.
- Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree (with up to 24 hours in accounting) plus 2 years of GAAP‑based reporting or accounting systems experience. Graduate coursework or CPA certification may substitute. Preference for CPA, CGFM, MPA, or MBA. - Salary Range: $45,657 – $80,045 annually.
- Lead statewide financial reporting and systems projects.
- Oversee preparation of comprehensive financial statements and policy statements.
- Serve as liaison with auditors, state agencies, and officials.
- Supervise and mentor Financial Reporting Specialists and staff.
- Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree (with up to 24 hours in accounting) plus 3 years progressive experience, including work at the FRS 1 and FRS 2 levels. CPA or graduate coursework may substitute. Preference for CPA, CGFM, MPA, or MBA. - Salary Range: $50,242 – $88,526 annually.
