Government Administration, Operations Manager
Overview
Under general supervision, performs entry level work in investigating, counseling, and providing continuous supervision for designated caseloads of adult probationers or parolees to assist in their social and personal adjustment. Work involves close contact with potentially dangerous offenders with criminal backgrounds.
Responsibilities- Investigate home plans and produce investigative reports.
- Prepare clemency reports, co‑operative investigations for other states, and post‑sentence reports for the Parole Board and other correctional facilities.
- File violation reports in the region.
- Complete specialized training, licensing, certification, or educational requirements as assigned.
- Perform related duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university. Preference is given to degrees in Business Administration, Public Administration, Business Management, Management, Political Science, Industrial Relations / Management, Organizational Behavior / Management, Psychology, Sociology, Criminal Justice, Corrections, Social Work, or closely related fields.
- Experience in counseling, law enforcement, corrections, probation and parole, social services, and/or rehabilitation services may substitute for the required training at a rate of one (1) year of experience for every thirty (30) semester hours of required training.
Firearms are distributed at the discretion of the Commissioner of the DCR and any authorized person must complete a psychological evaluation prior to issuance. Authorized positions must meet annual training requirements established by the West Virginia Corrections Academy.
