Position: Child Support Specialist Trainee - Human Services - Bureau for Child Support Enforcement - Wood Co.

Nature of Work

In a training capacity, performs entry-level Child Support Enforcement Work. Through formal classroom training and on‑the‑job training, job assignments are designed to develop familiarity with Child Support Laws, regulations, policies, programs, and services of the Bureau of Child Support Enforcement (BCSE). Employees learn during a training period where they perform beginning‑level case work by processing cases through locations, developing cases, issuing initial notices to non‑custodial parents regarding obligations, and engaging in Child Support Enforcement activities.

Under close supervision, employees acquire knowledge and abilities that lead to independent management of a caseload in Child Support Enforcement. The position requires monthly evaluation and progress monitoring by supervisory staff. Throughout the training, employees locate parents, assets, and sources of income, calculate the Child Support formula, research legal sources such as statutes, court opinions, rules and regulations, and compile case information by reviewing public documents, interviewing customers, or gathering information from other agencies for the BCSE Attorney.

Beginning‑level work also includes responding to customer service inquiries to resolve less complex case issues, composing routine correspondence, and maintaining confidentiality of information.

This posting is for a Caseworker. The position is located in Wood County.
