Job Description
American Traveler is hiring an Interventional Radiology Technologist with at least 1 year of IR experience for a 13-week travel contract at a major Level IV trauma teaching hospital in West Virginia.
Responsibilities- Interventional vascular radiology suite within a short-term acute care, Level IV Trauma Center and major teaching hospital affiliated with the Council of Teaching Hospitals and Health Systems (COTH)
- Procedures include peripheral angiography/venography with intervention, EVAR, TEVAR, carotid stenting, neuro-intervention including acute stroke, and embolization
- Average daily census of 7–10 patients
- 4x10 hour day shifts, Monday–Friday, typically 7:30 AM–6:00 PM
- On-call rotation required, totaling approximately 8 days per month including 1 weekend per month, with a 30-minute response time; every third weekend required (approximately 5–6 weekends per contract)
- Floating may be required to a sister facility approximately 2 miles away for up to 1 week
- Blocked schedule requests will be considered and discussed at interview
- Charting performed in Cerner
- Siemens fluoroscopy and ultrasound experience preferred
- Candidates must reside more than 100 miles from the facility; those within 75–99 miles may be submitted for facility approval
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Former permanent employees of this facility are not eligible to return as a traveler until 2 years after their last day of permanent employment
- Blue surgical scrubs are issued by the hospital
- Parking is complimentary for travelers
- Orientations are held every other Monday
- Minimum of 1 year of Interventional Radiology experience required
- Current ARRT certification and West Virginia state license required; candidates with a pending WV license may be considered but must have an active license prior to start date — license required if applicable
- Current BLS required
- Vascular Intervention certification preferred
- Proficiency with PACS, fluoroscopy equipment, and sterile technique
- Skills required include equipment setup and maintenance, inventory management, EKG lead placement, access site prep, recognition of life-threatening arrhythmias, room circulation, scrubbing to maintain sterile field, and use of vascular closure systems (Perclose, Star Close)
- Flu vaccine required during flu season (October 1 – March 31); medical exemption with documented allergist or physician record accepted
- Two manager or charge nurse references from within the past 2 years required for consideration
- Driver's license and Social Security card required for consideration
