Job Summary

The Associate Informaticist integrates clinical knowledge and science with information systems for clinicians using the electronic health record. The role focuses on workflows, testing documentation, implementation, support, and auditing through clinical information systems and applications. The Associate assists with the development and delivery of training for the CAMC Healthcare System on all application/solutions training. They help develop and maintain IT course curriculum, training materials, and conduct classroom and individual training for employees and providers associated with the CAMC Healthcare System.

The Associate maintains cybersecurity knowledge sufficient to securely accomplish their job duties and demonstrates a basic understanding of departmental change control processes.

Responsibilities
  • Master both the respective IT education modules and the relevant operational workflows in the assigned service area.
  • Develop and maintain course curriculum and all training materials for the assigned service area application.
  • Develop and maintain an in-depth understanding of workflows to properly develop training curriculum and related materials.
  • Build, test, and maintain the IT training environment for the assigned service area application.
  • Ensure all classroom training and related training materials adhere to current CAMC Healthcare System policies and procedures.
  • Conduct training for all new and existing staff utilizing respective IT in preparation for individual employee system activation.
  • Teach additional credentialed trainers/subject matter experts to assist with classroom training for end users.
  • Monitor trainer adherence to course curriculum, knowledge of applicable workflow, and overall system knowledge.
  • Lead training efforts stemming from software upgrades and updates, coordinating closely with system analysts to develop proper training for all end user roles.
  • Provide hands‑on/at‑the‑elbow support to system end users, documenting project issues.
  • Participate in testing and workflow validation of all new systems and modifications before implementation into production.
  • Monitor adoption, engagement, and acceptance of employee groups to new technology system changes and updates.
  • Maintain a customer service orientation and responsiveness.
  • Communicate effectively with project leadership, team members, and customers.
  • Understand inpatient clinical care settings and/or healthcare business applications and associated workflows.
  • Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Write and edit curriculum for all roles requiring training, and create job aids and other training materials.
  • Possess solid interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to meet deadlines and attend numerous meetings.
  • Be willing to spend significant time leading classroom training and present material clearly and confidently.
  • Be self‑motivated and able to learn new concepts, job requirements quickly, and handle frequent change.
  • Collaborate with other team members to promote project learning objectives.
  • Provide clinically‑informed technical support to physicians and other providers accessing CAMC’s clinical information systems, electronic health record systems, and related ancillary systems.
  • Assist with computer and mobile device configuration for accessing CAMC systems both locally and remotely.
  • Provide troubleshooting and remediation services for problems with remote access.
  • On call as required.
  • Flexible hours when needed.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Familiarity with clinical workflows and application processes.
  • Proficiency in testing documentation, implementation, support, and auditing through clinical information systems.
  • Cybersecurity awareness sufficient to securely accomplish duties.
  • Understanding of departmental change control processes.
  • Strong communication, writing, editing, and interpersonal skills.
  • Organizational and meeting management abilities.
  • Ability to provide technical support to clinical staff, perform remote troubleshooting, and deliver training.
Education
  • Associate's Degree required;
    Bachelor's degree, certifications or equivalent experience preferred.
  • 0–2 years experience with electronic health record or other clinical software applications and classroom/individual training experience.
  • Preferred one year experience within the healthcare industry.
  • Cerner experience preferred.
