Business Applications Specialist – VH IT Business Apps/Systems – Northgate-400 Association Dr. (Job )

The Business Applications Specialist is responsible for combining business knowledge, clinical workflow, and data analysis within a continuous financial and process improvement framework. The specialist performs a variety of activities to provide CAMC business entities with insights to maintain, improve or transform the business and technology framework. Responsibilities include application support and implementation within the Information Services Department, advanced computer operational skills, complex application diagnostics, troubleshooting, mentoring junior staff, and promoting IT services.

Ability to follow I/S Departmental and CAMC governance, including ticket management and change control, is required. The role also promotes department services, develops Informatics practices, and maintains cybersecurity knowledge.

• Coordinate and assist users and IT personnel with training and development of user documentation.
• Develop system design, including functional specifications, and implement strategies based on operational needs.
• Evaluate, design, build, test, and implement custom or vendor‑supplied software and develop system‑wide reports.
• Maintain production systems to ensure reliable performance.
• Prepare complete unit, system, and integrated test plans and methodologies.
• Provide day‑to‑day operational support to customers.
• Coordinate efforts between stakeholders to gather requirements, develop technical specifications, and test enhancements.
• Identify data integrity issues and analyze data and process flows for improvement opportunities.
• Perform data analysis to extract requirements, identify inaccuracies, and ensure accurate processing and reporting.
• Identify policies and requirements that drive specific solutions.
• Work effectively on project teams and meet deadlines according to project manager expectations.
• Build, test, and maintain integration points with multiple vendor solutions.
• Utilize detailed instructions for routine support and implementation work.
• Communicate effectively within the assigned team.
• Communicate with senior level management.
• Maintain necessary certifications/accreditation for specific vendor applications/tools for which support is held.
• Participate in contract review process, including vendor contact, contract review, and preparation for management.
• Serve on call as required.
• Work flexible hours when needed.
• Perform all other duties as assigned.

• Advanced computer operational skills and ability to perform complex application diagnostics and troubleshooting.
• Mentoring junior staff on departmental procedures and application support/implementation.
• Understanding of IT services available to the organization and ability to promote them.
• Knowledge of departmental change control processes, ticket management, training, testing, implementation, and validation.
• Ability to develop Informatics practices and maintain process measurements.
• Basic cybersecurity knowledge sufficient to secure job duties.

• Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Health Administration, Information Systems, Information Technology, or related field.
• Advanced certifications preferred.
• Preferred:
  Master’s Degree.
• 10 years of related experience in information technology, financial systems support, or related business/healthcare experience.
