Management
Lead and coordinate legal work streams supporting AIP’s power generation and data infrastructure platform, with focus on transactions, regulatory approvals, and governmental affairs in West Virginia and at the federal level. This role manages outside counsel and works closely with internal leadership to execute commercial agreements and maintain regulatory alignment.
The ideal candidate is business-minded, comfortable operating across multiple stakeholders, and able to translate legal risk into practical execution plans.
Key Responsibilities- Manage and negotiate key commercial agreements including EPC, O&M, fuel supply, interconnection (as applicable), site services, and customer commercial arrangements.
- Coordinate regulatory and permitting legal support across state and federal agencies; track approvals and compliance obligations.
- Lead management of outside counsel, including scope, budgets, and deliverables; ensure timely and practical legal support.
- Support government affairs efforts in coordination with leadership, including incentive programs, legislative monitoring, and stakeholder engagement.
- Develop standard contract templates and playbooks to enable repeatable execution as the platform scales.
- Support corporate governance, risk management, and internal policy development as needed.
- Partner with project delivery and finance teams to manage claims, disputes, and change order legal strategy.
- Maintain a clear log of legal work streams, decision points, and required approvals.
- JD from an accredited law school and active bar membership in good standing (WV preferred; multi-state experience is a plus).
- 5+ years of experience in energy, infrastructure, project finance, or complex commercial transactions (in-house or firm).
- Experience with regulated industries, permitting, and governmental or public-sector interfaces.
- Strong contract drafting and negotiation skills; ability to manage multiple deal processes concurrently.
- Comfort working in a fast-paced environment with evolving priorities and high visibility.
- Ability to be based in Charleston, WV.
