American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg Tele RN for a night shift position requiring 2 years of RN experience and 1 year of in-specialty telemetry/cardiac experience.
Details- 39-bed Medical Surgical/Telemetry unit within an acute care hospital
- Cardiac patient population including acute MI, unstable angina, CHF, unstable arrhythmias, and other cardiac disorders
- Also cares for CVA surgical patients within an observation unit with high turnaround (36 hours or less)
- Patient mix is approximately half inpatient and half observation
- Adult and geriatric patient populations
- Post cardiac cath, post angiogram, and PTCA experience required
- Working proficiency required with drips including heparin, cardizem, amiodarone, dobutamine, dopamine, and nitro
- Cardioversion, TEE, thoracentesis, bone marrow biopsy, chest tube insertion, central line insertion, and paracentesis experience preferred but not required
- Standard ratio of 1:5, with potential for 1:6 or 1:7 during call-ins or staff shortages, including partial oversight of an LPN's patients
- Night shift schedule (4x12 hours), 19:00-07:00
- Weekday schedule with every other weekend required
- Floating required within scope as needed
- Charting via Cerner
- Active RN license (WV or Compact); pending license accepted for consideration
- BLS/BCLS certification required; ACLS preferred
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
- Minimum 1 year of in-specialty (telemetry/cardiac) experience required
- Strong telemetry experience required
- Cardiac monitoring and emergency response skills required
- Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias required
- Post cardiac cath, post angiogram, and PTCA experience required
- Working proficiency with cardiac drips (heparin, cardizem, amiodarone, dobutamine, dopamine, nitro) required
- Procedural sedation administration/monitoring preferred
- Continuous IV sedation experience preferred
- Cerner charting experience preferred
- Minimum 2 Manager or Charge Nurse references from within the past 2 years required
- First-time travelers considered if experience requirements are met
- Provide direct patient care within a cardiac/telemetry unit including monitoring, medication administration, and dysrhythmia management
- Assist with or monitor procedures such as cardioversion and continuous IV sedation as needed
- Orientation held every other Thursday
- Every other weekend work required
- Holiday RTO requests limited to no more than 1 of the 3 major holidays
- Scrubs required in royal blue/white
- Flu vaccine required during flu season (October 1 - March 31) unless medical exemption documented; not required outside this window
- COVID vaccine not required
- Candidates must reside more than 100 miles from the facility; those between 75-99 miles may be considered on a case-by-case basis
- Former permanent employees must wait 2 years from last permanent employment date before returning as a traveler
- Current employees (perm, PRN, etc.) of the broader health system are not eligible for travel contracts within that system
- Facility is a Level IV Trauma Center and major teaching hospital, part of the Council of Teaching Hospitals and Health Systems (COTH)
- Free parking provided for travelers
