Camc Women and Children's Hospital—part of Vandalia Health—is a regional leader in comprehensive pediatric care. Located in the heart of Charleston, WV, our hospital provides dedicated, family-centered services ranging from level iiib neonatal intensive care to inpatient pediatric medicine, pediatric surgery, emergency care, and a broad array of subspecialties.
We are expanding our inpatient pediatric night team and are seeking three advanced practice providers (aprns/pas) who are passionate about acute pediatric care, thrive in collaborative environments, and value both autonomy and strong clinical support.
Why this role is special
This is not a "float and figure it out" night shift. Our aprns are essential members of the pediatric inpatient care team.
You will:
• Work in tandem with pediatric resident physicians overnight to provide seamless, high-quality care to hospitalized children.
• Manage a mix of independent aprn patients and collaborative care patients shared with the resident and attending teams.
• Participate in ed pediatric consults, transfer evaluations, and inpatient admissions.
• Engage with a multidisciplinary team including pharmacy, respiratory therapy, nursing, case management, pediatric subspecialists, and our on-call attending team.
• Help maintain clinical stability, safe escalation pathways, and continuity of care overnight for our pediatric unit.

• Access to pediatric subspecialists during training
Ongoing overnight support:
• Attending pediatric hospitalist available 24/7 for consultation and discussion
• A collaborative resident physician team in-house
• Strong multidisciplinary support from nursing, pharmacy, respiratory therapy, and more
Position responsibilities
• Provide comprehensive assessment, diagnosis, and management of pediatric inpatients.
• Manage independent patient assignments and contribute to shared care plans.
• Perform and document detailed histories, physical exams, and therapeutic procedures.
• Participate in ed consults and assist with evaluation of admissions and transfers.
• Collaborate with residents, attending physicians, and multidisciplinary partners to deliver safe, evidence-based care.
• Educate patients and families on diagnosis, treatment, and expectations.
• Support quality improvement, patient safety initiatives, and policy development within the pediatric service line.
• Demonstrate competency in developmentally appropriate pediatric care across the inpatient age spectrum.
Minimum qualifications
• Master's degree in nursing or physician assistant studies (required)
• Advanced practice registered nurse (aprn) or physician assistant-certified (pa-c)
• Basic life support (bls) – within 30 days of hire
• Pediatric advanced life support (pals)- within 90 days of hire
• Advanced cardiac life support (acls) – within 90 days of hire
• Pediatric experience preferred, but strong new graduates encouraged to apply
Work schedule
• Full-time, night shift (designed for flexibility. specifics discussed during interview)
• Inpatient pediatric unit at camc women and children's hospital
• Rotating weekends and holidays
