Quality Assurance Superintendent
The Quality Assurance Superintendent position is responsible for supervision of Food Safety and Quality (FSQA) personnel and quality programs, including the planning and implementation of the quality management program. This position is responsible for product specification testing, food safety systems, and quality programs within the plant.
Responsibilities- Lead and organize FSQA team activities, ensuring effective implementation of HACCP, SSOP, and food safety procedures.
- Supervise QA staff, including managing schedules and timekeeping systems.
- Promote safety and compliance, coordinating training and reporting unsafe acts to prevent incidents.
- Train plant personnel on quality programs through classroom and hands‑on instruction.
- Collaborate with USDA and site teams, ensuring regulatory compliance and resolving issues using root cause analysis.
- Support audits and customer programs, acting as backup for QA Manager and ensuring plant meets customer specifications.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Education:
Bachelor’s Degree in Food Science or similar field; or three (3) years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and training. - Certifications:
GFSI (BRC specifically) training preferred. - Experience:
Supervisory experience required, preferably in poultry processing or slaughter operations. Must have an understanding of USDA and OSHA regulations. - Skills:
Proficient in Microsoft Office; SAP experience is a plus. Strong communication and leadership skills, both written and verbal. Quick learner of customer quality programs and adaptable to change. Solid math and analytical abilities for problem‑solving and decision‑making. Reliable and ethical, with a strong work ethic and punctuality. Team‑oriented and self‑motivated, able to thrive in a fast‑paced environment. - Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs. or more.
- Occasional travel with short overnight stays (1–4 days).
- Flexible schedule, including weekends and varied shifts as needed.
- Positive and collaborative communication to support efficient teamwork.
- Works independently, upholding company values and FSQA standards.
- Comfortable in production environments, navigating equipment safely.
- Proactively addresses safety and food safety risks, promoting safe work habits across the facility.
- Schedule:
Monday – Friday with occasional weekends. Shifts are approximately 9 hours. - Benefits:
