Position: Facilities/Equipment Maintenance Technician-DCR-St Marys Correctional Center & Jail-Pleasants Co.

Under general supervision, this position functions as a member of the maintenance department performing general preventative maintenance across all facility systems.

Responsibilities
  • Routine maintenance of HVAC, electrical, and plumbing systems
  • Perform maintenance in areas including electrical, plumbing, HVAC, refrigeration, masonry, carpentry, ventilation, and renovations
  • Maintain facility grounds, including mowing, trimming, snow and ice removal
  • Maintain detailed tool and supply inventories, logs, charts, and purchase orders for the department
  • May oversee inmate work crews and perform additional duties as assigned
  • Work post hours when needed due to staff shortages
Minimum Qualifications
  • Training
    : graduation from a standard four‑year high school, GED, a four‑year apprenticeship program, or a two‑year post‑secondary technical school.
  • Substitution
    : experience in air‑conditioning, heating, or refrigeration may substitute for the required training on a year‑for‑year basis.
  • Experience
    : four years of full‑time or equivalent part‑time paid experience in heating, cooling, ventilation, or the mechanical/building trades (e.g., plumbing, electrical, carpentry, plastering, painting, welding, machining, or masonry work).
  • Special Requirement
    : certain positions may require certification as a federal EPA‑approved technician for refrigerant recycling under the Clean Air Act.
