Job Description:

C.J. Hughes Construction Co., Inc. is actively seeking an experienced Pipelayer to join our Water Division. This role involves the installation, maintenance, and repair of water pipelines and related infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in pipe laying, a commitment to safety, and the ability to work effectively in diverse weather conditions and challenging environments. This is a hands-on, field-based role, and may require travel between various project sites.

• Pipeline Installation:
  Accurately lay and connect pipes for water distribution systems, ensuring correct alignment and placement in trenches.
• Trench Preparation:
  Excavate and prepare trenches to specifications, including leveling and grading, to ensure secure and stable pipeline installation.
• Pipe Positioning and Alignment:
  Align and position pipes accurately, making necessary adjustments to meet grade and alignment specifications.
• Pipe Sealing and Testing:
  Apply sealing materials and perform tests to ensure there are no leaks and the pipeline is properly sealed.
• Equipment Operation:
  Safely operate heavy equipment, such as trenchers and excavators, when required to assist in pipe laying tasks.
• Site Preparation and Cleanup:
  Assist with general site preparation, clear debris, and ensure that the site is cleaned and safe after each task.
• Safety and Compliance:
  Follow all safety procedures, including the proper use of protective equipment and adherence to OSHA standards.
• Documentation and Reporting:
  Record project progress, including measurements, materials used, and any issues encountered during installation.

• Prior experience in pipe laying, specifically within water distribution or utility systems.
• Proficiency in using hand and power tools for pipe installation.
• Ability to read blueprints and construction drawings.
• Understanding trench safety, shoring techniques, and confined space requirements.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
• Physical ability to perform manual labor and work outdoors in all weather conditions.
• Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
• Must be highly productive and safe
• Must be able to determine and accomplished required grade work requirements
• Must have dependable transportation.
• Must be at least 18 years old.

• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
• Must have legal authority to work in the United States.
• Willingness to travel and work varying hours as needed by project demands.
• Must pass a background check and drug screening.

• Full-time, with potential overtime based on project needs.
• Expected hours: 40 – 50 per week

$19.86 - $23.53 per hour
