Job
As an Elevator Mechanic, you will be responsible for the installation, inspection, maintenance, and repair of elevators, escalators, and other lifting equipment. This role involves skilled mechanical work, complex control circuits, troubleshooting, and ensuring equipment operates safely and reliably.
Key Responsibilities- Inspect elevators of all types and makes; diagnose faulty operation and perform necessary repairs and adjustments
- Install, maintain, and repair elevators and related lifting equipment
- Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical system failures, including emergency situations
- Read electric meters and analyze controller systems
- Repair or replace defective components
- Conduct routine inspections and preventative maintenance
- Maintain accurate service and repair documentation
- Respond to emergency service calls in a timely manner
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and building codes
- Provide professional customer service to building owners and occupants
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Pay Range: $40–$55 per hour (based on experience)
- Schedule will be discussed during the interview process
- Minimum 4 years of elevator experience
- Completion of an apprenticeship program or technical school training in elevator repair
- State and/or city issued Mechanic’s license (as required)
- Strong knowledge of elevator controllers and control circuits
- Experience reading electric meters
- Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills
- HVAC technician background preferred
- In-depth knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems
- Valid driver’s license
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and in emergency situations
- Commercial buildings, hospitals, airports, residential complexes, and other facilities
- Work at heights and in confined spaces
- Exposure to electrical systems and mechanical hazards
- Lift 50+ lbs
- Climb ladders and work in confined or elevated spaces
- Stand for extended periods and work in awkward positions as needed
