Railcar Repair Technician

Transco Rail Services, part of Marmon Holdings (a Berkshire Hathaway company), delivers full‑service railcar repair and maintenance across a broad North American network of fixed shops and mobile field service teams. As a Railcar Technician, you will conduct all aspects of repair and maintenance on tank cars, working both independently and as part of a team while maintaining a strong focus on safety.

• Perform railcar repairs using current procedures and conduct inspections to ensure compliance, executing necessary repairs.
• Provide customer support, meeting expectations and ensuring customer satisfaction.
• Handle clerical duties, ensuring all invoicing, inspection, and work order information is complete.
• Maintain all required certifications, including tank car welding, and keep strong familiarity with AAR rules and regulations.
• Complete other work‑related tasks as assigned.

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Mechanical aptitude with strong problem‑solving and decision‑making skills, and proficiency with hand tools (pipe wrenches, pry bars, wrenches, ratchets, etc.).
• Experience with basic railcar repairs and inspections.
• Excellent customer‑relations skills and ability to work effectively in a team.
• Commitment to ongoing skill and knowledge improvement in railcar repairs.
• Ability to work in all weather conditions.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Welding background is a plus.

• Must be able to stoop for extended periods and routinely move from kneeling to standing positions.
• Must be able to wear a respirator.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds from the ground surface.
• Must be able to climb ladders and perform work at elevated heights.
• Must be able to work in confined spaces.
• Must be able to pass the company physical exam.

Starting Pay: $23.36/hr
