Job Title

Overview

We are hiring entry‑level and skilled trimmers and climbers. On‑the‑job training is provided. This role offers a career path in the Line Clearance industry and is ideal for those who enjoy outdoor work.

Responsibilities
  • Trim and/or remove trees by climbing or using equipment such as ladders, safety belts, climbing lines, powered trimmer lift trucks, or hand‑powered saws.
  • Use wedges, sledges, and chainsaws for felling trees or cutting and splitting logs.
  • Operate, service, and maintain all required tools and equipment.
  • Plan, assign, direct, check, and coordinate work.
  • Obtain written or oral permission from property owners and arrange access as needed.
  • Maintain good customer and public relations throughout work.
  • Apply sprays to prevent further growth.
  • Load and unload trucks, feed brush and debris into a wood chipper, and repair minor damage to lawns, fences, and walkways.
  • Relay hand signals, direct traffic, drive, and operate trucks and equipment as assigned.
  • Safeguard employees and the public from hazards in and around the work area.
  • Set up barriers, warning signs, flags, and markers to protect employees and the public.
  • Assist in training new personnel and new employees.
  • Inspect and maintain tools and equipment for proper working conditions.
  • Carry out other related work as assigned by superiors.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Minimum age 18 years.
  • Ability to work with hands above head for extended periods.
  • Ability to walk, climb, and work from ladders or at various heights on uneven or slippery surfaces.
  • No fear of heights.
  • Good hand‑to‑eye coordination.
  • Willingness to work long hours, overtime, holidays, and weekends during emergencies.
  • Willingness to join local union and pay dues.
Education & Experience
  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Entry‑level position; no experience required.
  • Previous experience is a plus.
License & Certifications
  • Driver's License or Commercial Driver’s License when required.
  • Herbicide license when required.
Travel Requirements
  • Ability to report and travel for storm emergencies.
Physical Requirements
  • Rare:
    Sitting, kneeling, crawling, color vision, climbing stairs.
  • Occasional:
    Stooping, squatting, climbing on/off truck, climbing ladders, pushing, reading.
  • Frequent:
    Carrying, pulling, lifting up to 50 lbs., balancing, body twisting, hearing/speech range, speaking clearly, walking.
  • Continuous:
    Standing, sense of touch, gripping, seeing distant, reaching, range of motion, depth perception, lifting 10–50 lbs., climbing poles.
Safety

Employees must have sufficient eyesight, maintain attention and concentration, wear personal protective equipment, traverse various terrain, communicate effectively, and handle conflict professionally. Work includes exposure to all temperatures, nature irritants, energized parts, traffic, and loud machinery.
