These positions perform work as a first line of defense in alleviating the abuse/neglect/exploitation of children and vulnerable adults within the state. This Sr. position will serve as a lead/senior worker for the Centralized Intake unit. The Senior worker will also mentor new CI workers in developing CI skills. The worker will serve as a back up supervisor as needed. This position will function as a CI worker as well as assisting staff with complex and complicated intakes received at CI.
Responsibilities- Serves as an Intake Social Worker for Centralized Intake including taking calls, completing interviews of reporters, and completing and submitting additional referrals including Child Protective Services Referrals, Adult Protective Services Referrals, Youth Services Intake Referrals, etc. Also completion of resource and referral calls when necessary and appropriate.
- Serves as a lead worker for Centralized Intake. Worker will assist staff in completion and documentation of complex and complicated intakes that are received at Centralized Intake.
- Serves as a mentor for newly hired staff at Centralized Intake. Worker will assist the Centralized Intake trainer in on-boarding new staff and providing guidance with the Centralized Intake specific training.
- Serves as a back up supervisor. Senior worker will assist the on duty Centralized Intake supervisors with the pre-screening of intakes, merging, notifications to the local offices, and monitoring the queues.
- Assists in entering intakes received in wroiting via email, fax, or Right Fax. This duty can also include distributing intakes received to staff members when call volume is low.
Applicants must possess a valid WV driver’s license, and reliable transportation. Applicants also must have strong communication skills, both oral and written, and maintain detailed case records and extensive documentation. Overtime hours and frequent travel may be required. Successful completion of a background check is required for employment.
Education: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
Experience: Two (2) years of full-time or equivalent part-time experience in a public or private health or human services agency.
Experience Substitution: Additional education may substitute for the required experience based on a year-for-year basis or as determined by the Office of Shared Administration Equivalency Chart.
Internal Applicants Only: One (1) year of full-time or equivalent part-time experience as a Centralized Intake Worker, Adult Protective Service Worker, Child Protective Service Worker or Youth Service Worker may substitute for the required experience.
Note: Applicants hired into this classification must obtain licensure as a Social Worker from the West Virginia Board of Social Work within a timeframe established by the appointing agency. Until licensure is obtained, they may not perform duties that require a licensed social worker under state law or Board regulation.
