Drivers operate heavy‑duty trucks equipped with front, side, or rear‑end load lift attachments depending on the line of business. They transport material to disposal, transfer or recycle facilities when trucks reach legal load capacity. Commercial drivers pick up containers filled with waste or recyclable material; containers can weigh over 1,000 pounds and may require maneuvering to a pickup stage area. They navigate high‑traffic and congested roadways, driveways, alleyways, and lots, using highly skilled backing maneuvers.

Residential drivers collect household waste or recyclable material and must safely maneuver vehicles in residential environments. Roll‑off drivers prepare, load, and transport large mobile open‑top and compactor containers from customer locations, navigating driveways, alleyways, lots, and high‑traffic roadways, sometimes operating in tight overhead environments on industrial routes.

• Operate the vehicle in accordance with Waste Management Safety and Life Critical Rules, OSHA and DOT requirements, and all local, state and federal laws.
• Perform pre‑ and post‑trip inspections of the assigned vehicle and document checks using the standard DVIR.
• Immediately report all unsafe situations or service‑related issues to the Operations Manager or Dispatch.
• Attend and participate in all scheduled training programs, briefings, and meetings as required by WM or directed by the Route Manager.
• Work closely with the Operations Manager to improve route efficiencies and identify best practices.
• Notify the Operations Manager of any incidents, accidents, injuries, or property damage.
• Notify the Operations Manager or Dispatch of service interruptions including closed or impassable streets or alleyways, receptacles too heavy to service or potential safety hazards.
• Communicate customer requests to the Operations Manager or Dispatch.
• Completely dump all receptacles and leave the customer’s location clean and free of debris.
• Follow route assignments and complete end‑of‑day documentation and check‑out process.
• Perform all duties as scheduled by the Operations Manager or Dispatch and assist other drivers as directed to meet customer needs.

• At least 1 year operating a vehicle requiring a CDL or equivalent military driving experience within the last 7 years.
• Able to read, write, and speak English well enough to interact with the public, understand traffic signs, respond to official questions, and complete records or reports.
• Must be at least 18 years of age and legally eligible to work in the country where the position is located.
• CDL‑Class A commercial driver license with an air‑brake endorsement upon hire, or
• CDL‑Class B commercial driver license with an air‑brake endorsement upon hire.

• High school diploma or GED.

• Standing, walking, lifting, pushing, pulling, crouching, reaching, handling, sitting, talking, hearing.
