Preconstruction Estimator

Dan Cristiani Excavating is a construction contractor with a diverse group of related companies licensed to perform work in many counties primarily around the Southern Indiana / Louisville Metro area. We have worked hard for over 55 years to offer a wealth of technical expertise in all areas of utility construction, and excavating services, including earth moving, land clearing, and demolition.

We have broad experience in stormwater drainage, water lines, sanitary lines, and stormwater retention.

We are currently seeking a detail oriented and motivated individual for the position of Estimator. The ideal candidate must be a positive, self-motivated individual with the ability to multi-talk in a fast-paced environment.

This position reports to the Director of Estimating.

• Prepare work to be estimated by gathering proposals, blueprints, specifications, and related documents.
• Compute cost by analyzing labor, material, and time requirements.
• Prepare an estimate of the cost of materials, labor, and equipment for each project.
• Determine cost analysis procedures and area inspections to spot potential inconsistencies, mitigate risks and address production gaps.
• Use the company's computer system, records, files, and programs for estimating and project management, as needed.
• Be able to work within tight time restraints to quickly place bids on jobs or help determine the cost feasibility.
• Work with superintendents and project managers to transition projects to field operations.
• Can request quotes from vendors and subcontractors to prepare estimates
• Maintain records of estimated and actual costs, including adjusting estimates based on changes and updates to projects.
• 3 to 5 years of estimating experience
• Deep understanding of research methodology, data analysis, and estimation metrics.
• Strong computer skills such as Microsoft office, Microsoft project, Excell and more
• Knowledge of essential job skills and responsibilities
• Great attention to detail
• Financial and Job cost Accounting Knowledge
• Excellent communication, leadership, negotiation, and interpersonal skills
• Proven ability to effectively estimate multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
• Must be authorized to work in the U.S. and possess a valid driver’s license.
• Can pass all drug and alcohol screens as required by Company policy and, if applicable, required by DOT regulations
