Utility Laborer

This is a full-time, on-site role for a Utility Laborer based in Charlestown, IN. The Utility Laborer will perform tasks such as maintaining city infrastructure, operating equipment, and assisting in construction and repair projects. Responsibilities include maintaining public spaces, ensuring proper functioning of utility systems, and adhering to safety standards. The Utility Laborer will work under the direction of the Public Works department and may be required to respond to emergencies or work varying schedules depending on operational needs.

• Experience or skills in general maintenance, repair, and construction work
• Proficiency in operating tools and equipment relevant to utility and public works projects
• Understanding of safety guidelines and practices for public works operations
• Ability to work in outdoor and physically demanding environments
• Strong teamwork, communication, and problem‑solving skills
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred, but not required
• Possession of a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record
• Experience in public works or a related field is a plus
