This role focuses on building high-quality blackout and layout materials that support set-up crews working with rolling and fixed beds. You will work with plastic, wood, foam, and other materials, using a variety of carpentry tools and machines to cut, assemble, and finish components according to detailed blueprints and panel drawings. The position requires strong attention to detail, precise measurements, and consistent adherence to safety and quality standards.
Responsibilities- Set up, operate, and tend panel saws, chop saws, table saws, routers, wood-nailing machines, and other woodworking equipment as needed.
- Read and interpret blueprints, cast books, and panel drawings to determine dimensions and material requirements for blackouts, rips, IPs, and related components.
- Cut materials such as plastic, wood, and foam to precise dimensions and assemble them into complete units according to specifications.
- Verify all measurements using tape measures and rules to an accuracy of 1/16th of an inch.
- Add fasteners and adhesives to connect pieces securely and ensure the structural integrity of completed units.
- Inspect wood and other materials to confirm they are not warped, cracked, or swollen before use.
- Deliver all finished products to the appropriate areas in a timely and organized manner.
- Clean the work area daily and maintain a safe, orderly, and compliant work environment at all times.
- Proficiency in construction and carpentry, including hands-on woodworking experience.
- Experience in finish carpentry and working with detailed, high-quality wood products.
- Ability to accurately read and use tape measures and rules to 1/16th of an inch.
- Skill in reading and interpreting plans, blueprints, cast books, and panel drawings.
- Experience using various carpentry tools and machines, including panel saws, chop saws, table saws, routers, and wood-nailing machines.
- Strong attention to detail and precision in measurements and assembly work.
- Ability to inspect materials and identify defects such as warping, cracking, or swelling.
Skills & Qualifications
- Previous woodworking experience in a production, construction, or fabrication environment.
- Comfort working with multiple materials, including plastic, wood, and foam.
- Ability to follow detailed instructions and work from technical drawings with minimal supervision.
- Strong organizational skills to manage workflow and ensure timely delivery of finished products.

WorkEnvironment
This position operates on a first shift schedule, typically starting at 6:00 a.m. or 7:00 a.m., with workdays commonly lasting 10 to 12 hours. You must be willing to work overtime as needed. The role is based in a production or shop environment where you will regularly use panel saws, chop saws, table saws, routers, wood-nailing machines, and other carpentry equipment.
The setting emphasizes safety, cleanliness, and organization, with an expectation that the work area is cleaned daily and maintained in a safe condition at all times.
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Charlestown, IN.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $20.00 - $22.00/hr.
