Toddler Lead Teacher
Position Summary: Weymouth is seeking a passionate and experienced Toddler Lead Teacher to create and lead a nurturing, engaging, and developmentally appropriate classroom environment for children ages 1–3. The Lead Teacher is responsible for planning and implementing a curriculum that promotes children’s cognitive, social-emotional, and physical development, while maintaining a safe and inclusive classroom culture that supports individual growth and learning.
Key Responsibilities:
- Curriculum & Instruction: Develop and implement lesson plans aligned with early learning standards and the center’s educational philosophy (e.g., play-based, Reggio Emilia, Montessori, etc.), tailored for toddlers.
- Classroom Leadership: Establish and maintain a structured, supportive classroom where toddlers feel safe, respected, and encouraged to explore and learn.
- Child Development: Observe and assess children’s development, documenting progress and using assessments to inform instruction and individualized support.
- Family Communication: Build strong relationships with families through regular communication, parent-teacher conferences, and updates about children’s progress and classroom activities.
- Collaboration: Supervise and mentor Assistant Teachers and float staff; model best practices in toddler care and education.
- Compliance & Safety: Ensure all licensing, health, and safety standards are met consistently within the classroom.
- Professionalism: Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and ongoing professional development to stay current on early childhood best practices.
Requirements:
- CDA (Child Development Associate), Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field required (Bachelor’s preferred).
- State-required Lead Teacher qualification or credential.
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience working with toddlers in a licensed childcare or educational setting.
- Strong knowledge of child development principles and early learning frameworks specific to toddlers.
- Excellent classroom management, communication, and organizational skills.
- CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
- Must meet all state and local licensing requirements, including background checks, immunizations, and health screenings.
