SUMMARY

Under the direct supervision of the Assistant Superintendent for Career and Technical Education (CTE), and in accordance with established policies and procedures, the Career Development Coordinator is responsible for assisting and supporting assigned CTE programs, staff and students, implementing the K-12 Career Preparation System and serving as a liaison between the ERESA Career Preparation Center (CPC) and the assigned district(s) for CTE program support, recruitment, enrollment and reporting.

PRINCIPLE

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESCTE Programs and K-12 Career Preparation System Support
  • Execute K-12 Career Preparation system programs, services, and events effectively.
  • Support CTE staff through the CIP Self-Review/TRAC process and Comprehensive Local Needs Assessments to enhance curriculum and student outcomes.
  • Assist with collecting enrollment, work-based learning, and credential reporting from local districts.
  • Serve as a primary liaison between local districts and the Career Preparation Center to ensure seamless communication and student participation in CTE and Early College programs.
CTE Program Coordination, Enrollment and Promotion
  • Promote Career Preparation Center (CPC) and local CTE programs to students, parents, staff, industry and partner organizations.
  • Help organize, coordinate and participate in CTE programs, services and events, such as: student orientations, presentations, CTE advisory meetings, counselor meetings, field trips, mobile lab exploration events, summer camps, recruitment events, work-based learning and other opportunities.
  • Assist with CTE and Early College enrollment, recruitment and scheduling of assigned students.
  • Disseminate comprehensive information regarding secondary CTE offerings available at the Career Preparation Center and within local districts.
  • Coordinate student visitation days at the Eaton RESA Career Preparation Center for participating local districts.
Assigned Student Support
  • Provide direct student support through career guidance, Educational Development Plan (EDP) facilitation, and work-based learning coordination.
  • Deliver essential support services to ensure student success and program completion in CTE and Early College pathways.
  • Implement K-12 Career Preparation System initiatives that prepare students for transitions to post-secondary education, career entry, or military service.
  • Coordinate tailored support services for special population students enrolled in CTE programs.
  • Contribute to the establishment and maintenance of a comprehensive K-12 county-wide career preparation system.
  • Maintain accurate student records and program documentation to track contacts and services rendered.
  • Integrate federal, state, and local initiatives to align student counseling and mentoring efforts.
Other Responsibilities
  • Attend required meetings and professional development sessions.
  • Submit required reports in a timely and accurate manner as requested.

QUALIFICATIONS CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS (If Applicable)
  • Michigan Teaching Certificate with a CTE Endorsement or appropriate alternative.
EDUCATION, TRAINING & EXPERIENCE
  • Required:

    Bachelor’s degree in Education.
  • Desired:
    Master’s degree in education with CTE certification.
  • Desired:
    Three (3) or more years of experience of teaching in a state-approved Career and Technical Education program and implementing work-based learning opportunities.
  • Desired:
    Three (3) or more years of experience with career guidance and/or instruction/support for secondary level students.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
  • Knowledge of current state and federal regulations and requirements related to CTE, Early College and the Michigan Merit Curriculum graduation requirements.
  • Skill with use of technology to implement work responsibilities.
