Charlotte Public Schools, Upper Elementary (Grades 4th & 5th)

This position will be responsible for providing direct STEM instruction to elementary students. New equipment such as a 3D printer will assist with the lessons of STEM. A wide variety of tasks are performed in the teaching-learning process for students, with the primary one being to help students learn the subject matter and skills that will contribute to their development as mature, able, and responsible adults.

• Bachelor’s degree in early childhood education or other related field.
• State of Michigan teacher certification required.
• Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of elementary school curriculum and philosophy, effective instruction principles, assessment procedures, and learning and motivation theory.
• Demonstrates the personal qualities of an effective teacher including the ability to collaborate with other staff and the ability to communicate well with a wide variety of audiences both in writing and verbally.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and coordinate and direct the work of others.
• Demonstrated ability to interact proactively with parents.
• Prior professional development in early literacy and subject matter literacy.
