Toddler Assistant Teacher

Weymouth is seeking a dedicated and nurturing individual to join our team as a Toddler Assistant Teacher. In this full-time position, you will play a crucial role in fostering a safe, engaging, and educational environment for toddlers. You will work closely with lead teachers to support the developmental needs of children aged 1-3 years, encouraging their social, emotional, cognitive, and physical growth through play-based learning and structured activities.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist the lead teacher in implementing daily lesson plans and activities that promote learning and development in toddlers.
  • Create a warm, welcoming, and safe classroom environment for all children.
  • Supervise and engage with children during playtime, meal times, and nap times to ensure their safety and well-being.
  • Support individual children's needs and adapt activities to accommodate diverse learning styles and abilities.
  • Foster positive relationships with children, encouraging their independence and self-esteem.
  • Communicate effectively with parents and guardians regarding their child's progress and any concerns.
  • Maintain a clean and organized classroom, ensuring that materials and resources are age-appropriate and accessible.
  • Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities to enhance teaching skills and knowledge.
  • Assist in the documentation of children's progress and development through observations and assessments.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to create a cohesive and supportive team environment.
  • Requirements:

    • High school diploma or equivalent; associate's or bachelor's degree in early childhood education or a related field preferred.
    • Previous experience working with toddlers or young children in an educational or childcare setting.
    • Knowledge of child development principles and best practices in early childhood education.
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with children and families.
    • Patience, compassion, and a genuine love for working with young children.
    • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and take direction from lead teachers.
    • First Aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain).
    • Background check clearance as required by state regulations.
