- Use formative and summative assessments to monitor progress and inform instruction.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, special education staff, building administrators, and specialists to co-plan, co-teach, and provide integrated supports.
- Serve as an instructional resource for content teachers on best practices for scaffolding instruction and assessing ELLs.
- Maintain accurate records of student progress, language placement, eligibility, and required documentation (identification, home language surveys, parent notifications) in accordance with district and state procedures.
- Communicate regularly with families/guardians about student progress, program placement, and resources; provide translation or interpretation as needed or coordinate district translation services.
- Participate in school and district professional development, data meetings, and parent engagement activities.

- Maintain a safe, inclusive, and culturally responsive classroom environment.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Education, TESOL/Applied Linguistics, Bilingual Education, or related field.
- Valid Michigan teaching certificate with endorsement or approval to teach ELL/ESL (or ability to obtain endorsement) OR Michigan-approved alternative certification that meets district requirements.
- Demonstrated experience working with K–12 ELL students and knowledge of language acquisition theory, ELL instructional strategies, and assessment (WIDA framework strongly preferred).
